Health Advocates Community Intergenerational Men’s Luncheon
by Leo Damato, Regis ‘25
On Tuesday, April 8, Health Advocates hosted the Intergenerational Men’s Luncheon. The event brought men from the community together with high school student volunteers for an afternoon full of fulfilling conversation, laughter, and good pizza.
The luncheon created space for meaningful dialogue, bridging a generational gap which is too often ignored. The students came eager to listen and learn, and the older guests brought stories, insights, and plenty of good humor. There was no limit to what their conversations covered — sports, music, life advice, and more were all discussed.
After the event, volunteers and older adults alike were struck by the conversations that occurred. One student volunteer remarked: “I was so interested by stories that I heard at the luncheon and was struck by the similarities between our generations—whether they be music tastes, sports opinions, or favorite pizzas.”
Health Advocates greatly appreciates the administrative team’s planning, the participation from its community members, and the student volunteers from Regis High School — all of whom helped to make the event a success. Furthermore, we greatly appreciate Italian Village Pizza’s unmatched hospitality and delicious food.
As Health Advocates continues to champion its mission of building community and promoting dignity for older adults, events like these will be of critical importance. We’re already looking forward to the next one!
